Local at Home Care Provider awarded ‘grade 6’ – the top grade by Care Inspectorate
Creative Homecare has been awarded the highest grade ‘Grade 6’, ‘Excellent’ rating by the Care Inspectorate. The local Care at Home provider has moved up a grade from ‘5’ to ‘6’, since its previous Inspection Report in November 2021.
The social enterprise not only supports vulnerable people to live independently in their own homes across Stirling, North Lanarkshire and Falkirk areas; every penny made from the service is reinvested into Strathcarron Hospice. The further strength of the innovative Care at Home business model is that it will help fund the £14,632 daily cost of specialist end of life care and services the local Hospice charity provides to individuals and their families across its communities.
Irene McKie, CEO Strathcarron Hospice and Creative Homecare, “We aim to provide the same standard of care that we would expect for our own families. We value each person’s unique qualities and see them as an individual, not as a list of care needs. We work alongside families and individuals to tailor our services to help customers remain in their own homes and stay in control of their own care for as long as they are able.
The Care Inspectorate report said, “People told us that the service made an outstanding difference to their lives and family relationships”. Creative Homecare’s friendly and reliable team delivers bespoke support to customers who perhaps need help around the house and with personal care tasks they’re finding more difficult to do themselves. Their care is tailored to their individual needs and staff are all fully trained and supported by the management team.
The Homecare Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting customers live independent lives. Losing your independence and reaching the stage where you need assistance with personal care is a challenging time. However, the professional, respectful and helpful nature of Creative Homecare carers will help make this transition easier.
Irene continues, “Creative Homecare was set up as a Social Enterprise to provide vital income to support the future of Strathcarron Hospice, the excellence of free specialist care valued at Strathcarron, is mirrored in Creative Homecare’s paid for at Home Care services. You don’t have to be connected with Strathcarron and its services at all; instead, in choosing Creative Homecare, you are helping do your bit to fundraise for a vital local service.
We’re delighted to have been awarded the highest grading by the Care Inspectorate, our service and teams improving year on year. The positive feedback from our wonderful customers on the quality of care received is testament to our excellent team of care professionals”.
Creative Homecare also refreshed their marketing materials last year with their new campaign and organisation strapline, ‘Homecare services, with you at the heart’. The aim of this message is not only to encourage individuals who are looking for a caring and professional organisation to look after their loved ones, it also targets people looking for a flexible and rewarding career by highlighting Creative Homecare’s quality of care messaging.
The Care Inspectorate also interviewed customers, examples below:
“Mum was initially very concerned about having carers but after a short time she began enjoying the visits and the conversation”.
“At the outset, the focus was on including dad and myself in establishing carers coming into his home. All carers were personally introduced by a manager or one already known to dad. All carers were extremely kind and proficient and dad took to having them in his home much better that I first thought, he was their focus and he liked the attention”.
“They did a full assessment together with Mum, me and my sister before starting. Then set up a care plan and gave Mum so much respect in it all, listening to her so well. All the carers that come in to see Mum are kind, patient and very helpful. Communication is great and they are always very helpful in the Creative Care Office if you have a question.”
“I have found the communication between me and the carers to be very good. The supervisor has also visited and asked me and mum how things are going. They understood my mother’s needs quickly and found ways to reassure her and give her confidence in them.
There are usually the same two carers working different days and they attend at set times each visit. They tidy as they go, leaving the bathroom and bedroom neat and washing dishes after meals. Dirty clothes are bagged for me to collect for washing and notes are made of any shopping required. Thanks to this I can sit with my mother and have tea and a chat. There was no time for this before.”
“The communication with the team no matter who you speak to has been excellent. If we have any questions, they always get back to us promptly. The carers are always on time and there has always been continuity of staff (any change has always been advised, no new carers are ever sent blind, they have always been introduced to mum beforehand).
